Improv Theatre Workshops
Posted on June 3rd, 2023 by Alex Sigrist

After three successful improv-theatre workshops in July, we are happy to announce the extended series of workshops for anyone who is interested, organized by Anna and Hulda. For the last 20 years, Anna has been working backstage and has recently discovered an interest in improv-theater and Hulda is currently active in The Caretakers as a board member and an actress.
Improv-theatre is a form of theatre, all of which is unplanned and unscripted. The players create scenes and dialogues in the moment.
These workshops will involve a mixture of fun games, improv exercises, scenes, and group activities. Participants will develop improv techniques, including: listening, spontaneity, “Yes And”, staying open and flexible in performance, trusting and developing ideas, creating interesting characters, and more.
Come and join us! Complete beginners welcome! You don’t need any drama, acting, comedy or improv experience whatsoever. We create a friendly, fun, playful and supportive atmosphere in our improv workshops where people are free to play and try out new things.
Workshops will take place on the following Tuesdays:
22nd, 29th of August
5th, 12th, 19th of September
Autumn holidays (3 weeks)
17th, 24th, 31st of October
7th, 14th of November
Where: 1st floor, Bürenpark, Bürenstrasse 8, 3007 Bern.
When: 7.00 pm to 9.30pm.
Costs:
10 evenings: Members 50 CHF (students 30 CHF), Non-members 60 CHF (students 40 CHF).
Individual evenings: Non-members 10CHF, Members 5 CHF.
Payments can be made in cash or twint.
(We do not intend to make profit from the workshops; the participation fees are to cover the rental fees)
If you’re interested in improv theatre, sign up and become a part of a growing community of friendly, creative, international improvisers in Berne. Make sure to sign up for the dates that work for you. You’re welcome to join one or all of them, whatever works for you!
Improv theatre is an individual art form but, as many others, improv also needs to be practiced. We do recommend regular attendance for those interested in developing a thorough grounding in improv techniques.
To sign up, send an email to improvworkshop@gmx.ch
We look forward to seeing you there!
