A Crooked Tale – Auditions!
Posted on September 28th, 2021 by Alex Sigrist
We are pleased to announce auditions for Dorota Solarska’s A Crooked Tale, which will be performed in March 2022 at the Theater Tojo in Bern.
Synopsis of the play
After suffering an intense manic episode due to bipolar disorder, Sara Gemini is admitted to a psychiatric hospital. Though it is supposedly a safe place, Sara soon learns that it is not – unless she can make it safe for her own sake. As she shares in the lives of others at the hospital, she learns how to live with her condition, how to maintain respect toward herself, caught between shame, guilt and grief. We witness how her family reacts to the news of Sara’s hospitalisation – how the ’healthy’ see the ‘sick’, and what it means to be a compassionate human being. It’s a story about being in hell and coming back – only to learn that if we want redemption, we need to grant it to ourselves.
The play is written by Dorota Solarska and will be directed by Chris Huguenin and produced by Alexander P. Sigrist.
Auditions will take place on October 18 and 26, between 18:00 and 21:00, as well as on October 30 between 14:00 and 18:00. In order to keep the groups small, there will be 1 hour slots for each audition with no more than 5 people per audition.
